The Timothy School is proud to share exciting news: Westminster Presbyterian Church has awarded us a $13,000 grant through their Endowment Fund to help create a dedicated Occupational Therapy Sensory Room at our Berwyn campus.
This is more than a facility upgrade. For students with autism, sensory processing differences affect communication, emotional regulation, behavior and readiness to learn. More than 90% of our students receive OT services in shared, multipurpose spaces. A dedicated Sensory Room built specifically for their needs, with adaptive seating, tactile panels, calming lighting and movement-based equipment, will give them what they have always deserved: a therapeutic environment designed around them. This room is not a luxury. It is a vital support for student success.
The connection between our two organizations runs deep. The Timothy School was founded in 1966 as a mission of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church. Westminster Presbyterian Church's decision to invest in our students reflects that same enduring spirit of community care.
We are especially grateful to Westminster members Lynn George, Director of Communications and Media, Sandra J.S. Kurek, MBA, Director of Finance, and Angela Emrich of the Outreach Committee for their campus visit, their thoughtful questions and their advocacy on our students' behalf.
A very special thank you to our own Grace Gawron MS, CCC-SLP, Speech Language Pathologist at The Timothy School, who introduced us to Westminster Presbyterian Church and helped launch this wonderful partnership.
This room will serve our students, their families and the broader professional community through our Consultative Services. That is the kind of lasting impact this grant will make.
Thank you, Westminster Presbyterian Church. Because of you, our students will have the space they have always deserved.
