Community Partners
Community Partnerships
True independence means being part of a community. That’s why we build strong partnerships with local businesses and organizations that give our students opportunities to learn, grow, and belong.
Building Real-World Skills
Our students practice what they learn in the classroom through community-based instruction. Outings such as grocery shopping, budgeting and dining in restaurants help them apply academic and social skills in everyday settings. These experiences build confidence and independence while reinforcing practical skills for adulthood.
Workplace Experiences
Through off-campus internships, students also develop essential job readiness skills such as:
-
Writing resumes and preparing for interviews
-
Learning workplace routines and responsibilities
-
Building confidence by showing up ready for work
These opportunities allow students to explore interests, gain practical experience and prepare for life after The Timothy School.
Creating Inclusive Communities
Partnerships aren’t one-sided. While students gain valuable skills, our community partners learn from us how to build more inclusive environments. Through our Inclusion Kits and trainings, businesses discover simple yet powerful ways to welcome individuals with autism—opening doors to new possibilities for both students and employers.
Meaningful Connections
Our partnerships go beyond academics and work. Local businesses also welcome our students for recreational activities such as bowling and miniature golf. These outings give students opportunities to enjoy leisure time with friends and families, strengthening social skills and building community connections.
