Occupational Therapy
The Timothy School’s Occupational Therapy (OT) department supports students in developing the daily living, educational and vocational skills essential for greater independence. Occupational therapists work with students individually and in small groups to address fine motor skills, bilateral coordination, motor planning, sensory processing and visual-perceptual integration.
OT services also include training and support in the use of adaptive strategies, environmental modifications and assistive technology across the classroom and throughout each student’s educational program. Using a combination of push-in and pull-out service models, therapists introduce and strengthen skills and individualized strategies, then support students in applying those skills within natural environments such as the classroom, playground, cafeteria and work sites. This approach encourages meaningful carryover and generalization across settings.
