Approach

Consultative services are designed for teachers and support personnel working directly with individual students or classroom teams. Services include ongoing, individualized support from Timothy School mentors who collaborate one-on-one with educators to structure classroom environments, adapt instructional materials, and implement research-based practices that optimize student learning.

Our consultative approach emphasizes practical application, coaching, and fidelity of implementation to ensure strategies translate into meaningful classroom outcomes.

Classroom Design, Set-up, and Consultative Packages

As the number of school-aged children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder continues to rise, so does the need for highly structured autism support classrooms. A thoughtfully designed classroom environment is essential to student success.

When implemented with intention, structured classrooms provide predictable routines and clearly defined expectations that support regulation and engagement. This structure reduces the likelihood of challenging behaviors, promotes active learning, increases motivation and strengthens executive functioning skills such as organization, task initiation and independence.

Consultative packages are customized to meet the needs of each classroom and may include:

• Staff Development on Structured Teaching
  Classroom teams receive professional development on the Elements of Structured Teaching. Training may occur during the annual TIM 1 training or on-site at your preferred location.

• Development of Essential Classroom Visuals
  Based on each student’s IEP, TIM Academy creates initial classroom visuals, including (but not limited to) individual schedules, independent work systems, functional visual routines, visual supports throughout the classroom, and initial instructional and independent tasks.

• Physical Environment Design and Set-Up
  TIM mentors assist classroom teams in designing and organizing the physical environment to support structure, independence and instructional access.

• Ongoing Mentoring and Consultation
  Classroom team members receive consultative and mentoring hours to ensure newly learned strategies are implemented with fidelity and sustained over time.
